EDUCATION NEWS

  • Dayton Public Schools is launching a nationwide search for a new principal at Stivers School for the Arts (grades 7 to 12) as the current leader will leave at the end of the year after serving for two years; candidates with educational leadership experience and a passion for the arts are invited to apply online.  WHIO-TV
  • Oakwood voters will decide on a 33-year, $40M bond levy on May 6 to pay for fixes at Harman and Smith elementary schools and some upgrades at other schools, costing about $165.90 per $100,000 in home value—district officials say the plan follows input from local stakeholders—while some residents still worry about rising taxes.  Dayton Daily News

  • The Washington Twp. Board of Trustees voted against rezoning and development plans for a proposed 118-home project on nearly 86 acres of Clyo Road between Spring Valley Pike and Clyo Road. The trustees said the plans did not match the area’s lot sizes and setting, and M/I Homes may adjust the proposal for a project featuring average 3,391-square-foot homes and over 46 acres of open space — 53.5% of the total land.  Dayton Daily News
