- ➤ Fire crews responded to a multi-house fire on the 50 block of Warder Street early Thursday morning around 3:24 a.m.—embers from a burning two-story brick home set a nearby occupied house ablaze, forcing an evacuation with no injuries as two firefighters were evaluated and one was taken to a hospital amid windy conditions. - ➤ Authorities in Montgomery County seized over 64 grams of a drug mixture of fenanyl and eutylone — a lethal combination that may reduce the effectiveness of Narcan when fentanyl is present — and Montgomery County Sheriff Rob Streck warned the public of the deadly risk. WHIO-TV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Dayton Public Schools will open an alternative school next school year and add seventh grade to River’s Edge Montessori School while discussing the reassignment of seventh and eighth graders from Belmont High. The board voted unanimously for the new school but has not chosen its site yet — a community meeting on Monday will gather more input. Dayton Daily News

Andrea White and Phil Plummer helped pass a new law that strengthens oversight of foster care homes—requiring regular child welfare checks and a 24-hour emergency response—and the law took effect on April 3 to boost child safety.
