- ➤ On Sunday, AES Ohio reported that nearly 2,000 customers lost power in Miami Valley; the outage map recorded 1,847 outages in areas such as St. Henry (436), Kettering/Beavercreek (196), Drexel (147) and North Riverdale (116). WDTN
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Firefighters responded Sunday night after part of a building — at the 100 block of Valley Street — collapsed with no injuries reported; it marked Dayton’s third building collapse since March 15 when similar incidents occurred on N. Main Street and in the Oregon District. WHIO-TV
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A man fled a Dayton traffic stop and jumped into the Great Miami River on March 30 near E Great Miami Boulevard and Riverside Drive—officers are investigating the incident. WHIO-TV
- ➤ Beavercreek Township Administrator Ryan Rushing was stopped by an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper around 11 p.m. on March 21 and charged with OVI, speeding, and marked lane violations—he reported the incident to Township leaders and is set to appear in court on April 14. WHIO-TV

- ➤ A Miami Valley resident won a $1 million top prize with a lottery ticket bought at the Whipp Road Shell in Kettering—choosing a $500,000 cash option that nets about $360,000 after taxes. The winner said they plan to use the money to buy a home and cars for their children. WHIO-TV

- ➤ Beavercreek Township administrator Ryan Rushing was charged with OVI and speeding on March 21 and pleaded not guilty on March 27—trustees said the incident happened off duty and will not lead to township discipline. Dayton Daily News
- ➤ Downtown Dayton Partnership is leading beautification work in downtown to prepare for the NATO Parliamentary Assembly scheduled in May. The group is planning art installations and a volunteer spring cleanup on April 26—efforts designed to showcase Dayton’s history and welcome an influx of global visitors. Dayton 24/7 Now
- ➤ State Representatives Phil Plummer (R‑Dayton) and Thomas Hall (R‑Madison Township) introduced a bill today to criminalize the harassment of first responders by requiring a 14‑foot perimeter around them during emergencies. The legislation, which also proposes adding probation officers to the emergency responder definition, remains in the Public Safety Committee for hearings and may be modified before a vote. WHIO-TV

- ➤ A report found that while most women described their birth care positively, fewer in Montgomery County felt involved in decision making than women statewide. The study showed infant mortality was 9.8 per 1,000 live births (with Black infants at 16.3 compared to 6.5 for white infants), and local health leaders plan to partner with hospitals to improve care.
