  • The Montgomery County Sheriff’s office warned residents that scammers are using spoofed caller ID and names like Director Russell to claim missed court dates and demand immediate payment via PayPal + Apple Pay, and urged everyone to verify calls with the police before paying.  WHIO-TV
  • Michael D. Curry, 55, who pleaded guilty to strangulation and felonious assault in February after beating and choking a woman in 2023, was sentenced to three years in prison on Thursday and will serve his term at the Correction Reception Center in Pickaway County—further details of the incident have been documented in court records.  WHIO-TV

  • The National Museum of the U.S. Air Force expanded its accessibility with over 80 new braille displays and tactile models—built with local partners to help visitors learn aircraft history. HEALTH NEWS

  • Great Lakes Cheese Co. recalled Happy Farms by Aldi Colby Jack cheese sold at Aldi in Ohio — the company received reports that stainless steel fragments may be present in some packages.   • Influenza remains high in Ohio as weekly cases have dropped from 5,500 to under 3,000 and hospitalizations reached 1,024 last week—figures that remain above the five-year average—while officials note that flu season will last until mid May. COVID-19 has continued to claim nearly 40 lives per week, and public health officials advise people to stay home if they are sick and to get the updated vaccine.  Dayton Daily News
