  • PG Law is hosting an Easter Egg Hunt offering giveaways like Dragons tickets, gift cards and gift baskets plus local fire department support for a fun community event.  Dayton937.com

  • Dillard’s opened its new store at The Mall at Fairfield Commons in Beavercreek today with a ribbon-cutting event attended by hundreds. The store will donate 10% of sales to Michael’s Place and early arrivals received gift bags + gift cards.  WHIO-TV
  • The Huber Heights Buc-ee’s is set to open soon, offering a fresh menu of snacks and meals for local residents. Details of the grand opening — including times and special treats — will be announced soon.  Dayton Daily News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Carillon Historical Park in Dayton celebrates 250 years of innovation and history with interactive exhibits & rides that feature the Wright Flyer III at the Wright Brothers National Museum.   • Dayton Metro Library has launched a spring series exploring Indigenous history, culture, and ancestry. Programs will run throughout spring at the library (dates vary) to help locals connect with their heritage.  Dayton 24/7 Now

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On March 15 at the Nutter Center, Wright State University awarded 12 full-tuition scholarships during Big Hoopla’s STEM Challenge. Winners from basketball contests and a raffle, who completed 80% of their STEM passport, were honored at halftime during an NCAA game at the University of Dayton arena on March 18.  Dayton Daily News
  • United Theological Seminary in Trotwood named Mark Teasdale as its new president — he replaces Kent Millard after 10 years. Teasdale will also serve as professor of Missional Leadership and guide over 600 students at the Denlinger Road campus.  Dayton Daily News
  • Voters in the Troy City Schools district will consider renewing a 5.8-mills operating levy on May 5. Officials noted that rejecting the renewal would not lower homeowners’ taxes but would reduce tax proceeds from business real estate.  Dayton Daily News
  • Huber Heights City Schools announced a new schedule for next school year — each school will have unique operating hours. The district detailed the change on March 19 and the plan will take effect when classes resume.  WHIO-TV
  • The Ohio House is reviewing a bill that would double recess for kindergarten through 8th grade by creating two 30-minute breaks and allow high schools to award gym credits for sports club participation (a proposal inspired by local student feedback) while Gov. Mike DeWine highlighted the benefits for mental health.  Dayton Daily News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Dayton is moving forward on two environmental projects. The city signed an agreement to purchase energy from the Gem City Solar Project, a 49.9 MW installation expected to operate by mid-2028, and commissioners approved plans to add EV chargers at eight sites (with three alternates if any site is unsuitable).  Dayton 24/7 Now

  • Montgomery County is buying land for a new job and training center at Forest Park in Harrison Township. A 90-day due diligence period—covering inspections, environmental reviews, and soil tests—will end with an expected property closing this summer.  WYSO

  • Trotwood-Madison High School reached the boys’ basketball finals after an exciting overtime win when Darius Dennis hit a game-tying three-pointer at the end of regulation. The win earned their spot in the finals for a local matchup.  WHIO-TV
