- ➤ Gov. DeWine announced that schools from five local districts earned the Science of Reading Champions Award — an honor for strong reading strategies — recognizing their efforts to boost student literacy. - ➤ Crews are repairing downed utility lines which led to the closure of part of West Alex Bell & Rahn Road today. Drivers should plan alternate routes until repairs are complete. WHIO-TV
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The Dayton Flyers men's basketball team plays the VCU Rams for the Atlantic 10 Championship at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh today, with the winner earning an automatic bid to the 2026 NCAA Tournament. The game will air on Channel 7 and WHIO Radio. WHIO-TV
- ➤ On Saturday, the Dayton Flyers upset No. 1 seed Saint Louis in the A-10 Tournament semifinals at a packed arena (fans cheered every play). Jordan Derkack scored a game-high 28 points and made a last-second play that gave his dad a memorable birthday celebration. Dayton Daily News

- ➤ Thornton hit a last-second three to give Fairmont a 61-55 overtime win over Princeton in the Division I girls state final on Saturday at UD Arena. - ➤ The field for the 2026 First Four at UD Arena was announced Sunday evening, with Texas playing NC State Tuesday and Miami facing SMU Wednesday — UMBC meets Howard Tuesday and Lehigh tackles Prairie View A&M Wednesday, with winners advancing to the first round. Dayton Daily News
