- ➤ Artwork by Wright State students Libby Gephart and Suvekshya Maharjan will be auctioned at ArtsGala (April 5) at the Creative Arts Center on the Dayton Campus to raise scholarship funds for fine and performing arts students (featuring Maharjan's acrylic painting 'The Lite' and Gephart's ceramic sculpture 'Texture Non Raffinee'). - ➤ New Lebanon schools saw a big improvement in eighth grade math scores last year after teacher Ronda Nisbet changed her lesson style to small groups—this method helped students build strong math skills for high school. Superintendent Greg Williams said using tools like Zearn and maintaining high expectations gave students a solid boost in learning. Dayton Daily News
- ➤ Beavercreek City Schools had about 130 fewer daily-counted students than the state’s full-time equivalent because students split their time between high school classes and career center courses—school officials say the state’s method of splitting student hours affects enrollment numbers used for funding and future facility planning. - ➤ Ohio state senator Brenner introduced a bill that will require schools to set up special plans for students who score low on state tests after more than 366,000 students received a 'limited' rating so far. The bill will require math intervention plans when over half of a school's students do not reach 'proficient' and will include random reviews of schools' intervention services—facing little opposition so far. - ➤ Butt Construction Co. of Beavercreek was awarded a $13,068,600 firm-fixed-price contract by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to renovate a materials analysis lab in Building 71 at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base; work will begin in June and finish by summer 2027. The contract was awarded after two internet bids were received—highlighting the firm’s long-standing role at the base. Dayton Daily News
- ➤ AES Ohio said on a recent bill that it is working to fix a delay in payment history caused by its new billing system—AES Customer Ecosystem. The Public Utilities Commission is checking the issue and will ensure affected customers are not charged extra fees or disconnected. Dayton Daily News
- ➤ Officials say the I-75 ramp near Dayton will close on March 24th for two months as part of a $51 million project to rebuild nearly three miles of the highway that began in 2023 and will continue until summer 2027. They ask drivers to slow down—put away distractions—and stay alert while passing the work zone. Dayton Daily News
