  • Montgomery County Animal Resource Center launched a three-month pilot program with Best Friends Animal Society and regional rescues to boost dog adoptions by addressing treatable medical needs and capacity limits.   • Site Selection magazine placed the Dayton-Kettering metro fourth in economic development projects for its 20th straight top-10 finish.   • A Dayton ombudsman helped a Section 8 tenant get heat restored after an inspection confirmed a faulty furnace; the landlord was given 15 days to complete repairs while the tenant stayed with her son (ensuring the property meets basic standards).  Dayton Daily News
  • Harrison Township officials issued a one-year ban on new car-related businesses to reduce market oversaturation and encourage a mix of retail and service options, while current operations remain unaffected. HEALTH NEWS

  • Eaton has partnered with the U.S. EPA to inspect about 700 homes for lead and copper in water lines — the process started Wednesday and continues through Friday as officials note that homes built after 1986 are less likely to have older pipes.  WHIO-TV
  • Local heart transplant recipient Herres, who has used everolimus for over a decade to prevent rejection, had her off-label coverage denied in February 2025 but eventually secured approval in September 2025; she now faces a higher copay + must seek further support to afford her medication.  Dayton Daily News
