  • A new $81M BOLT Innovation Center in Englewood will offer a workforce hub, marketplace, event space + an indoor sports complex across 35 acres east of the Dayton Metro Library Northmont Branch as it builds opportunities for local entrepreneurs and hosts community events with phased private and public funding.  Dayton Daily News
  • GE Aerospace inked a deal with United Airlines to supply 300 GEnx engines for Boeing 787 Dreamliners including spares; the order will raise United's 787 fleet to over 200 GEnx-powered jets. ECONOMY NEWS

  • A GasBuddy study shows that Ohioans save money by filling up on Mondays while prices peak on Thursdays - the gap can reach up to 45 cents per gallon.  Dayton Daily News
  • Tech companies are expanding data centers for artificial intelligence, raising concerns among local Dayton experts about increased electricity bills. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Beavercreek High School students launched a new store called The Beaver Den on Wednesday to sell school spirit merchandise and learn skills in management, sales, and finance. Funded by an Ohio Department of Education and Workforce Career Tech Equipment grant, the program will soon expand with mobile sales at school events.  WHIO-TV
  • Three local high school seniors are honored in the Black History Makers of Tomorrow Program for leadership and community service, each receiving a $1,000 award. Nominations came from teachers at Meadowdale, Dunbar, and Thurgood Marshall High Schools.  Dayton 24/7 Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Dayton is planning over $13 million in safety improvements on West Third Street and Gettysburg Avenue to reduce crashes by slowing traffic. Construction will begin as early as Spring 2027 with lane reductions – federal and city funds supporting the changes.  Dayton Daily News
  • A Dayton couple that applied for help with their utility bills on Sept. 6, 2025 had their application processed in mid-December after delays due to severe winter weather. The Ombudsman confirmed the matter is resolved (no further assistance is needed).  Dayton Daily News

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • The Dayton real estate market saw a two percent increase in sales and a three percent rise in average prices since the new year, and a recent study ranked Ohio as one of the top 20 states for family-friendly homes while limited lower-priced inventory remains a challenge for buyers.  WHIO-TV

SPORTS NEWS

  • Wilberforce University launched its first women’s flag football program on Wednesday. The university named head coach Earnest J Wilson III, who will start recruiting 25-30 athletes as it expands athletic opportunities ahead of the sport’s Olympic debut in 2028.  Dayton 24/7 Now
  • The Dayton Flyers snapped a four-game losing streak with an 82-67 win over George Mason on Wednesday night at EagleBank Arena in Fairfax, Virginia (their last win against the Patriots was in 2021). Javon Bennett scored 22 points as Dayton improved to 17-9 and will host Duquesne Saturday at 2 p.m.  WHIO-TV
