- ➤ In December, Ohio’s Katie Spotz will row 10,000 miles across the Pacific from Lima, Peru to Papua New Guinea to bring clean water to 100,000 people in Fiji. The Coast Guard veteran will row 10 to 12 hours daily on her 23-foot boat (facing 40-foot waves) in her endurance challenge. WHIO-TV
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ TNT Fireworks is constructing a new warehouse and retail store at 2770 E. River Road in Moraine. The facility, developed on a former golf course near Interstate-75, will include a temporary dumpster for used fireworks around July Fourth. Dayton Daily News
- ➤ Astrion will lay off 61 workers at WPAFB from its F-15 contract, with separations expected on or around May 31. A new contractor will take over the work and some impacted employees may get offered positions, though none have union representation. WHIO-TV

- ➤ The Dayton Metro Library is partnering with Miami Valley Fair Housing Center to gather artifacts for a historical marker honoring Lelia I. Francis at 505 Riverside Drive if approved. - ➤ Local organizations in Troy have joined to collect African American cultural artifacts for an upcoming exhibit celebrating America 250 and Black culture. - ➤ A winning Powerball ticket sold in Ohio on Feb. 15 showed numbers 23, 43, 58, 60, and 64 with Powerball 24 (official confirmation). Lottery players are urged to check their tickets for a winning match. WHIO-TV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Dayton leaders approved $315,362 for Residence Park upgrades in southwest Dayton (improvements include sidewalks, a playground, basketball court, parking lot and sanitary line) funded by Issue 6 and Community Development Block Grant dollars; officials have not provided a timeline. - ➤ Montgomery County officials will move the Job Center from its longtime Dayton office before May and build a new county-owned center estimated at $40 to $45 million that will serve roughly half a million annual visitors. Social services will shift to nearby facilities to ensure a smooth transition. Dayton Daily News
- ➤ Former Dayton congressman Tony Hall testified before a House committee today to spotlight child labor in cobalt mining and urge support for the COBALT Supply Chain Act + lawmakers may soon build on his call for stronger human rights protections. Dayton Daily News

- ➤ A conceptual site plan before Miami Twp. Zoning Commission details plans to rebrand the LexisNexis campus along Springboro Pike as 'the Pike' mixed-use business park.
