  • Evendale-based GE Aerospace landed a $14M defense contract with the U.S. Air Force. The four-year agreement runs through June 30 (2029) and supports the company's role in national defense.  Dayton 24/7 Now

CULTURE NEWS

  • ThinkTV invites Dayton viewers to a free screening of 'Let Ohio Women Vote' at Victoria Theatre on March 8 at 1 p.m. (pre-registration is required). A panel featuring director Ann Rotolante and Maureen O’Conner will follow, and attendees may explore the Ohio History Connection exhibit and register to vote.  WYSO
  • Retired members of seven B-52 crews from a top-secret Desert Storm mission will reunite this summer at the CenterPoint Energy Dayton Air Show. Their story will be recounted in a forthcoming book set to release next month.  WHIO-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City officials announced that a $1.7M upgrade to Belmont Pool at the Lohrey Recreation Center will be completed by September; project plans aim to improve accessibility, structure and safety following contractor meetings & federal Community Development Block grant funding.  Dayton Daily News
  • Montgomery County announced plans on Thursday to build a new Job Center that will centralize Job and Family Services in Dayton. Temporary locations will host these services from late spring as the county reviews potential sites to save costs and modernize operations — a move to better support residents.  Montgomery County
  • Sherrod Brown, campaigning at the 6888 Kitchen Incubator in the Arcade building, warned that rising costs are squeezing Dayton restaurants + farmers.   • New federal data shows nearly a third of homes in Dayton neighborhoods may be investor-owned. State Sen. Louis Blessing introduced Senate Bill 28 to tax LLCs owning over 50 single-family homes (exempting apartments and nonprofits), though he doubts it will pass.  Dayton Daily News

  • Dayton Children’s Hospital will acquire Mercy Health’s pediatric practice in Urbana and the pediatric rehabilitation services in Springfield in March. Families will continue with the same providers and staff will join Dayton Children’s on March 9 as the facilities will be renamed to strengthen children’s care in the region.  Dayton Daily News
