  • Centerville has joined Keep Ohio Beautiful and Keep America Beautiful, expanding its effort on litter prevention, beautification and community engagement with events including an Annual Clean Up Day, Spring Expo and Arbor Day programming. Leaders say these initiatives will improve local public spaces and boost community pride.  Dayton Daily News
  • Village Perks coffee shop at 315 Main Street created Farthing’s Caramel Mocha to honor Deputy Mike Farthing, a regular who was stabbed after responding to a vehicle fire and is now recovering at home, and will donate all proceeds to his family.  WHIO-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Fairborn Board of Education appointed Chad Lensman as the new curriculum director to succeed retiring Dr. Sue Brackenhoff; Lensman, formerly superintendent of Graham Local Schools, will start on Aug. 1.  WHIO-TV

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • In Beavercreek, Maronda Homes has approved a plan for 53 new homes on just over 25 acres off Grange Hall Road. Construction will begin with 12 homes mid to late 2026 and continue with 41 more in 2027 (prices range from $450,000 to $500,000 per home).  Dayton Daily News

  • Local veteran Kari Pfeifer, a Buckeyes and Browns fan from Crestline, wins a trip to the Super Bowl in San Francisco after being chosen by Ohio Buckeyes alum and Buccaneers player Emeka Egbuka; she plans to attend with her business partner Teresa.  Spectrum News 1
  • The Dayton Flyers regroup during their bye week after losing 99-73 to VCU on Friday following a 72-70 win over St. Bonaventure on Tuesday. They will host Davidson on Feb. 15 at 4 p.m. on WHIO Radio.  WHIO-TV
