- ➤ Great Parks begins phase two of its $6M trail connection linking Glenwood Gardens and Winton Woods trails. The new 3.6-mile shared-use path (12-ft wide) starts at West Fork Mill Creek Greenway Trail and will be completed by fall. Spectrum News 1
- ➤ Comedy heavyweights Jon Stewart and Dave Chappelle will speak at a WYSO fundraiser at the Schuster Center on Friday, Jan. 30 when tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. EST; proceeds will support the station’s move into its new Union Schoolhouse headquarters this March. Dayton 24/7 Now

- ➤ Katz Group plans to open its first North American manufacturing hub at 1960 Troy Street in a partnership with Ohio firm Peck Hannaford Briggs. The project, announced Wednesday, will create 50 new jobs and boost advanced production in Dayton. WHIO-TV
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ The Ohio Tax Credit Authority approved a 1.65% eight-year tax credit for Katz Group to build a manufacturing hub at 1960 Troy St; the project, in a joint venture with Peck Hannaford & Briggs Co., may add 50 jobs and support a $4.7 million payroll. Dayton Daily News
- ➤ Ohio officials announced six statewide projects approved Wednesday — including one in Dayton — that will add 348 new jobs, keep 243 positions and attract $56 million in investments. The Ohio Tax Credit Authority reviewed the proposals, which are set to boost new payroll by over $29 million. Spectrum News 1

- ➤ Jefferson Twp. Local Schools placed a 1.25% ongoing income tax levy on the May ballot to cover a budget shortfall and avoid triggering a state takeover. The district, which has not passed a levy since 2008, uses this model following past rejections and will meet on Feb. 9. Dayton Daily News

- ➤ The Ohio Department of Youth Services has partnered with Uber for Business to offer justice-involved youth 10 to 12 free rides (approved for job interviews, college campuses, and counseling sessions) after successful trials in Cleveland, Columbus, and Dayton. - ➤ City officials plan to remove long-vacant homes and replace them with new developments in Dayton neighborhoods. The project is expected to spur growth and create job opportunities later this year. WHIO-TV

- ➤ A Dayton transplant patient who needed anti-rejection medication got urgent help when a local ombudsman contacted the Social Security Administration + connected her with the Montgomery County Department of Job and Family Services.
