ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A local restaurant closed temporarily after a kitchen fire on Saturday, Jan. 3 when staff worked quickly to control the blaze. Officials said they are assessing the damage before planning a safe reopening. WHIO-TV
- ➤ A kitchen fire at Slyder’s Tavern on Saturday closed the Belmont restaurant for cleanup — it is set to reopen Monday after equipment checks. Dayton Daily News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Southwest Ohio school superintendents earn above-average salaries with perks covering retirement contributions sparking debate among critics who call for greater taxpayer transparency while advocates say the benefits help recruit talent. The highest recorded salary is $240,957 at Miami Valley Career Tech Center. Dayton Daily News
